Precautions After Chin Correction

Please review the following information to help ensure the tissue stabilizes properly and a natural chin line is formed.

I. Aftercare Guidelines

  • Suture removal must be done within 3 to 7 days after the procedure, and you must return to the clinic during this period. If too much time passes, stitch marks may remain as scars, so please make sure to visit within the recommended period.
  • From immediately after the procedure through the first 3 days, use cold compresses as needed.
  • If you have pain, please take pain medication for 2 to 3 days as needed.
  • For 3 to 5 days, please sleep on your back with your head elevated on a pillow.
  • You may wash your face and shave, but do not rub or strongly irritate the treated area for 5 days.
  • Light makeup may be applied after 24 hours as long as it is done gently without irritation.
  • For about 2 weeks, please avoid excessive facial movement, high-impact exercise, strong sun exposure, and tanning.
  • For 2 to 3 weeks, please avoid saunas, steam rooms, bathing, alcohol, and smoking.
  • For 4 weeks, please avoid chin massage and any strong cosmetic stimulation to the area.
  • Please avoid resting your chin on your hand, lying face down, or any action that applies strong pressure to the treated area.

II. Changes That May Occur During Recovery

  • Temporary swelling and bruising gradually improve over about 1 to 2 weeks after the procedure.
  • Swelling and bruising may continue to increase until about 3 days after the procedure.
  • You may feel pulling or pain around the tip of the chin when chewing or making facial expressions, but this usually settles within 1 to 2 weeks.

III. Results and Progress

  • As the tissue stabilizes, the chin line gradually becomes more natural and refined.
  • Recovery progress may vary depending on each individual’s tissue condition and healing speed.

IV. When to Consult Your Medical Provider

  • If swelling or pain becomes abnormally severe or lasts longer than 2 weeks
  • If infection is suspected, such as redness, heat, or discharge
  • If you experience any of the above symptoms, please contact our clinic and visit for an evaluation.
